Agenda

Empowering Your People: Can you Lockdown? Can you Evacuate?

The tireless campaign of Figen Murray, whose son Martyn who was killed in the Manchester Arena attack, has made a significant impact to upcoming changes to UK legislation.  The importance to ensure people are safe and secure has led to the introduction of Martyn’s Law: the Terrorism Bill, requiring those engaged with the public to consider life safety.

Businesses will now be required to consider critical events that have a major impact on our communities. Who does this impact?

  • Locations used for entertainment
  • Leisure
  • Retail
  • Food and drink outlets
  • Museums and galleries
  • Sports grounds
  • Public areas of local and central government buildings
  • Visitor attractions
  • Temporary events
  • Places of worship
  • Health, and education
  • Business centers

In fact anywhere where people are present, so good information should be on hand to enable people to apply what they know is best in a time of crisis. Does you business have a secure plan in place? And are your people clear on what to do if lockdown or evacuation were necessary?

Gary Buckett, Health & Safety Consultant at AfterAthena and former Royal Marine, Firefighter and Paramedic with over 15 years’ commercial experience advising and influencing existing and emerging markets will be a speaker at the event. He has extensive industries practice across Education, International Events, Oil and Gas, Critical National Infrastructure, European Commission, USAID and the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office programmes.
Join us at this next Health & Safety Forum to learn more about this critical topic. Breakfast options and hot drinks will be provided.
